Firstly….HAPPY NEW YEAR LOVELIES!!

I can’t believe it’s the 2nd week of 2018 already but there’s been a lot happening in Blonde HQ and there’s going to be lots to share over the coming months…! Ex-cit-ed!

So….as this is my first post of 2018 I thought I’d share with you some of the trends I’d like to see more of and the ones I’d like to involved with – ha!

Now there have been a lot of trend reports flying around over the past month and I personally enjoy reading them. I think it’s exciting to see what everyone’s predictions are….however, as most trend reports state, these are just influences. First and foremost your individual style and taste as a couple should be your starting point when planning your wedding concept.

So here are my thoughts on some of the trends we are set to see in 2018…

Black is back !!

I live in monochrome so this has to be my fave trend. 🙂 I just think whatever time or location this colour palette is always on trend and is just so elegant, classy and timeless. It also provides a great base should you wish to inject a colour. However, this year forget gothic. Think chic and sexy. This colour can be very delicate and soft given the right styling.

Texture, Texture

So important I said it twice. Last year we saw the rise of raw materials like exposed wood, concrete and copper and layered them with softer furnishings like fur and silk. We will certainly see more of this as all natural elements combined to create effortless chic. New materials like crochet, macrame will become a top choice for Brides. Even more vintage fabrics will have a revamp so you might want to rethink about your granny’s net curtains you’re throwing out!  And, we will go further by playing with textures in floral design and an influx of pampas grass and moss will be the plant of choice. More natural, more organic and more free. I say yes please !

Graze, Graze Baby

Grazing boards and more interactive food choices. This is me all over. I’m not a massive fan of 3 course set dinners. I love it when there’s a buffet and I can try a bit of everything at my own pace. Weddings are becoming more casual and this way to dine encourages that.

It also encourages caterers to use our fave comfort foods but present it in a fun and refined way so it still feels special. Sharing platters are a great way to get guests mingling and talking and also present a wider choice so there’s definitely something for everyone – even fussy Aunt Nora! Phew!

Casual and Carefree

Following on from the above concept we are seeing weddings become more carefree and everyday – which I think is great. Couples are opting to have the reception in their garden or favourite pub or restaurant. It creates a really chilled vibe and everyone just cracks on being themselves and celebrating the newlyweds – Amen to that!!

Ne-on!

I bloody love neon and there is some really cool stuff happening with it now. I’m partial to a quote but not your typical love quote. It’s a great addition to your dance floor, ceremony or even top table and of course always a wicked photo opportunity.

Smooth like Velvet

Ooooh I’m a total lover of velvet – as even in small doses it can inject a huge dose of elegance and quality to any design. It certainly has the wow factor and can give the impression your wedding budget is bigger than it actually is ! We’ve seen a major move towards velvet in interiors and this is what is influencing the wedding industry. The sumptuous jewelled tones in high back chairs to create little snugs and social areas. Gorgeous velvet blazers to make any groom look dashing. Sumptuous velvet footwear for the fashion conscious Bride. More please!

High Street Honey

We will see more and more high street brands introducing bridal lines that are extremely affordable and ridiculously beautiful. Already the likes of ASOS, Whistles and John Lewis have some gorgeous pieces. Likewise, more Brides will make a conscious choice not to purchase bridal wear but a dress, jumpsuit or suit from a high street designer.

Other influences like tassel earrings, bangles, long line necklaces, capes, block heeled shoes, handbags and everyday make up like bold eyes or lips will be seen more and more. Basically its us as our everyday self but slightly heightened for our wedding day. And I for one champion this !

I hear too many brides say I loved my wedding day but I just didn’t feel like myself ! I mean it’s great to feel like a bloody movie star but you should still feel like you.

……….
aaaaaaand that’s it! I am really excited to see how couples take on these trends and to share with you some of my organised styled shoots that encompass these concepts.

If you have anything to share about what I’ve mentioned please get in touch or comment below.

Have a lovely Sunday everyone.

Love Lianne x
