Happy Monday and Happy 1st April.

Recently, I’ve been designing a few concepts and it got me thinking about bridesmaids outfits….and then shopping ! 🙂

So, if you’ve followed me for a while you will know I’m not all that into the ‘traditional’ aesthetic of a wedding. Or should I say what we assume a wedding to look like. Please know I deeply value the traditional meaning of a wedding – but I’m fiercely passionate about creating wedding designs full of authenticity, creativity and representing a true reflection of my clients.

Therefore just because something has the word ‘wedding’ attached to it doesn’t necessarily mean you have to include it on your day. When I consult with my couples I ask them to look at their everyday lives and what makes them, them. What will their friends recognise as theirs, what do they invest in, what do they enjoy and take pride in? We then work creatively to elevate this throughout their wedding concept.

Your bridal party play a big part in your day and your wedding design and although you may want some unity between them so they are recognisable as your wedding party, you don’t have to stick your besties in outfits that they may not thank you for….. Luckily there are some exciting brands out there that are creating modern designs that appeal to today’s bride and work with all body shapes (win!) But I also encourage my couples to look outside the wedding world…. For more ideas check out my super gorgeous pinterest board for inspo!

I’d personally want my besties to feel great on my wedding day. I’m also a big advocate for sustainability in the wedding industry and therefore finding outfits your bridesmaids will wear again is a win from me! So here are a few of my recommendations for an anti-bride tribe. Elegant, cool and classy outfits that your girls will feel incredible in and make your wedding photos look chic and sophisticated.

First up is the modern brand Rewritten who label themselves as ‘damn cool bridesmaids’ and we LOVE their vibe and style. Katie and Frances are the babes behind the brand and they certainly know how to create dresses for the contemporary and cool and have such a variety of choice you will want them all !

Would you dress your bridesmaids in white? You may think not but after reading this article I wrote about one of my Blonde Army weddings where the bride nailed this concept, you may consider it. Click here for the full article and to read my advice on how to style your white tribe successfully.

Another gorgeous bridesmaid brand with a huge variety of modern dresses is Maids to Measure. Stylish, feminine and chic.

Now for some high street / not your typical bridesmaid outfit choices. Starting with this Bariano Rose Gold Embellished dress which would add a little glamour and edge.

An option for your braver bridesmaids is this Silk Blue Maxi by Wolflamb. I love this colour and it would work so well for a destination wedding – somewhere like Greece where the scenery is full of white and blue hues.

Your bohemian babes will love this tiered Needle and Thread floral number. The texture and layers would totally compliment a more simpler bridal gown.

Bold and statement this High Neck Red Silk Maxi from Wolflamb could work across all seasons (hello Christmas wedding!)

This more demure dress with plunge neck and pep hem gives a sense of vintage but with a modern twist. Ideal for a more low-key celebration or city wedding.

So, there are a few ideas from me, I hope you like them? I do like to encourage my clients to think outside the box because sometimes the obvious doesn’t suit everyone. My main goal when assisting you on your wedding planning journey is that you feel completely and utterly you and that includes styling your bridal party in something all your gals love and want to wear again.

With love,
